Care & rituals

The skin, our largest organ — touch, an essential sense

More than a way to relax body and mind, massage has invaluable benefits. Ayurvedic massage adapts to each person’s constitution and moment of life, seeking balance on the physical, emotional and energetic levels — in Ayurveda, the balance of the doshas, the vital energies that combine nature’s great elements within us.

Alongside massage, I offer traditional postpartum care from Latin American and Ayurvedic traditions — because in many cultures, caring for the mother is an essential part of welcoming a baby.

Prenatal & Postnatal Ayurvedic Massage

From the 2nd trimester / after birth

Nourish the skin, nourish the spirit — with love and human warmth.

Prenatal (from the 2nd trimester): relieves physical and emotional tension, promotes “feel-good” hormones and better sleep, supports digestion and circulation, increases pelvic flexibility and facilitates birth.

Postnatal: after birth the mother may feel tired and destabilised — an imbalance of the Vata dosha. This massage warms body and mind, invites the organs back to their place, relieves remaining tensions and helps you recover energy and feel centred. In many traditional societies, postnatal massage is an essential care for young mothers — a wonderful gift to give or receive.

Closing the Hips

Warmth, containment and alignment after birth.

Closing the pelvis is a tradition of many Central and South American cultures, done with a cloth such as the Mexican Rebozo or the Colombian Chumbe. This postnatal care invites the pelvis to close and the organs to find their place again, bringing a deep feeling of warmth and containment.

After a vaginal birth, it can be done from day 2–3 and regularly during the first six weeks. After a caesarean, a soft pre-closing is very beneficial; the full care can take place 5–6 weeks after birth, depending on scar healing.

Manteo with Rebozo

Contained, warmed, enveloped, cradled — like a dance.

The traditional shawl — Rebozo or Chumbe — is the extension of the heart through the arms. Massaging the body with this cloth is called “manteo”: an exceptional, deeply relaxing massage.

In the prenatal period: well-being, full relaxation and opening the body for birth. In the postnatal period: a (re)alignment manteo to find your axis again — closing of the hips included.

Rebozo Ritual

A magical moment suspended in time — a passage from one phase to another.

A ritual of passage for whenever you feel the need to close one chapter and open another: after birth towards the end of the 40 days, to begin a conscious conception, after a loss, or at any turning point in a woman’s life.

Three phases, given by two practitioners: a four-hand body massage, a steam treatment, and the “closing” of the whole body with the Rebozo shawl.

40-Day Closing

Honouring the end of the first 40 days postpartum.

A ceremony to mark the traditional end of the 40-day postpartum period: a sobada (massage) focused on the belly and uterus recovery, a vaho (Colombian steam treatment), and the closing of the hips.

First Boost

In collaboration with 40 Moons

Getting your postpartum recovery off to a nourishing start.

Birth mobilises enormous energy: the perineum, organs and digestive system are weakened, and emotions run high. What better than to nourish body and spirit in the very first days?

A first care adapted to your needs (such as a pre-closing of the hips) and a specific Ayurvedic recovery menu designed with Raphaëlle, postpartum chef and creator of 40 Moons: broth, starter, a complete meal, breakfast, sweet snacks and postpartum herbal teas — enough for a day.
